Meet our Partners
To achieve its mission, Rwanda National Police (RNP) has drawn its strategic objectives from the National and Justice sector objectives to come up with a five-year running strategic plan.
These objectives are aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of RNP to deliver quality services to the community as a professional police organization based on democratic values with respect of rule of law and human rights.
The support of the development partners in ensuring the achievement of RNP strategic priorities has been fundamental during the last eleven years of RNP existence.
Some of the partners’ cooperation with RNP is based on short term and others on long term partnership. Both RNP and the partners have found it easy to work together due to the well elaborated strategic plan to which all support has been aligned.
This has attracted substantive external assistance and efforts have been made to avoid any duplication and/or overlapping international initiatives within RNP.
On 19 April 2010, the Inspector General of Police was joined by the nine major development partners from the Donor Community, the Civil Society as well as the Private Sector to sign a 10th Anniversary board of recognition.
They were: H.E. The High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa to the Republic of Rwanda - Chief Gladstone DUMISANI GWADISO; the UN Resident Coordinator and the Resident Representative of UNDP in the Republic of Rwanda - Mr Aurélien AGBÉNONCI; the Country Director for the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) in the Swedish Embassy, Kigali – Mr. Richard BOMBOMA, the Representative of The High Commission of Canada, who is also the Head of the Kigali office, Mr. Richard LEBARS; the Director of USAID, Rwanda – Mr. Dennis WELLER; the Resident Representative of the Belgian Technical Cooperation in Rwanda - Mr. Jean Yves SALIEZ; the Representative from the European Commission in Rwanda, Mr. Simon VANDEN BROEKE; and the Director of GTZ in Rwanda Mr. Rainer KRISCHEL.
The Civil society was represented by the Chairperson of TRANSPARENCY Rwanda - Ms. INGABIRE Immacule and the private sector was represented by the Chairman of the Private Sector Federation (PSF), Mr. Robert BAYIGAMBA.
During the 10th Anniversary Police Week of activities, the above and many more local and international organisations extended their support with an aim to bring police services closer to the community that we serve.
