The Rwanda National Police Construction Unit was established in 2006. Formerly under the Directorate of Logistics as construction department, the unit was mandated to carry out studies and analyze the construction of Police projects, plan and execute construction works, make designs for new buildings but also inspect structures to prevent accidents.
Achievements of the unit from 2005 to 2010, the unit has registered many achievements as Highlighted below:
The unit has been able to fence Rwanda Police Headquarters and build quarter guards but also constructed tarmac roads and pavements in General Commissariat.
It has also constructed Canine Brigade headquarters at Kagugu in Gasabo district, interview rooms at Remera Police Station (Gasabo District) and Rwamagana in Eastern province at regional Police Headquarters and Marine headquarters at Nkora in Rubavu District.
In health, it has supervised the construction of Maternity ward and mortuary at Kacyiru Police Hospital and put up Police Health Centres in Karongi and Huye districts.
Rehabilitations and constructions have also been done at National Police Academy (NPA Musanze), Police Training School (PTS Gishari), and Motor inspection centre offices at Remera, Intelligence Headquarters offices at Gikondo, Police Disciplinary Centre in Ngoma District and border posts at Kagitumba.
Making land use plans and designs Capacity building in technical fields by construction staff.
Creating wokshops for skill development.
