Narcotic stash impounded
Police in Rubavu district in collaboration with the RDF unit based in the area as well as local population on Monday seized 4842 rolls of cannabis left by an unknown person. Efforts to find those behind the narcotics are ongoing and the evidence is currently being held Gisenyi Police station.
According to Police statistics, Rubavu and Kirehe districts have been commonly used by drug traffickers to smuggle narcotics into the country as repetitive instances of drug trafficking has been intercepted.
Police acknowledged the combined efforts among security organs and the population.
Police Spokesperson Superintendent Theos Badege noted the importance of cooperation in crime fighting saying it always succeeds. He urged the public to maintain a vigilant eye and report any drug dealing or trafficking to security organs.
Rwanda National Police calls on the public to participate in ensuring security by timely reporting any criminal activity especially drug dealing and consuming to security organs.
