Police begin title defense with a win

National handball league defending champions on Friday kickedoff the 2012 season in style by brushing off ESEKI secondary school 36 -20.
In a game that was dominated by Police handball team as by half time the score was 18-9 in favor of Police. It went on to score 18 more goals in the second half to ESEKI’s 11.
Speaking after the game, Alphonse Udahemuka Policehandball club coach lauded his team’s performance. He noted that the team played technically well. “It is important that we kicked off the season with a win toset ourselves a good pace,” Udahemuka said.
Police is already plotting for a second win in a row when it takes on Nyamasheke handball club on Saturday next week in Nyamasheke.It has also been invited to play in the African club championship that will take place in Tunisia.
Police were crowned Handball National League champions last season after beating APR handball club.
