DIGP Namuhoranye reminds traffic officers to uphold professionalism

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Felix Namuhoranye has challenged traffic police officers to uphold discipline and professionalism in their daily duties.

The Deputy Police Chief made the call on Friday while meeting about 450 traffic police officers at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

“Professionalism is not something that just comes without appropriate action; as trained police officers, integrity is key in Police services… it should be a culture that defines the traffic department and each traffic Police officer,” DIGP Namuhoranye said.

He observed that “professionalism combined with discipline results in good service delivery, which in turn prevents corruption.”

While thanking them for their services in ensuring road safety, he challenged them to always do the right thing in the right time, to be defined by integrity, and to exhibit a character of zero-tolerance to corruption.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Rafiki Mujiji, the Commissioner of Traffic and Road Safety department pledged to continue improving traffic-related services.

“The department of Traffic and Road Safety delivers various services required by the people and officers meet many people on a daily basis, either on the road or those seeking different services at our offices. This necessitates professionalism and quick services,” CP Mujiji said.

Among the services offered by Traffic and Road Safety department is control of traffic-flow, conduct of driver’s license tests and issuance of permits, as well as motor-vehicle inspection to ensure roadworthiness to prevent accidents caused by mechanical faults, among others.
