COVID-19: Eleven drunk drivers arrested during prohibited movement hours

Three arrested in operations against drug dealers

On Monday, June 7, Rwanda National Police (RNP) seized over 12kgs of cannabis in separate operations conducted in Rubavu and Gicumbi districts. The narcotics were seized from three drug dealers, who were also taken into custody.

Hakizimana, 23, was arrested in Hanika Village, Makoro Cell in Busasamana Sector of Rubavu District with 7.5kgs of cannabis.

Two other suspects; Theoneste Kavamahanga, 25, and Innocent  Karibana, 28, were arrested in Gicumbi District transporting 5kgs of cannabis on a motocycle. Readmore...

Rubavu: Four arrested over forgery of medical documents

Rwanda National Police (RNP) arrested four people in Rubavu District for allegedly forging medical documents with intent to prevent penalties for violating the national directives on combating the pandemic of the Covid-19.

Police said the suspects, who include medics, connived to forge medical documents for one Olivier Safari, who had been caught in the night of June 4, driving during prohibited movement hours.  Readmore...

RUSIZI: Man intercepted with 10 bales of smuggled used clothes

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) has impounded 10 bales of second-hand clothes commonly known as ‘Caguwa’ from a smuggler in Rusizi District, who was also taken into custody.

Emmanuel Ntigurirwa, 33, was arrested on Wednesday, June 9, in Kamabaji Village, Ruganda Cell in Kamembe Sector.

Ntigurirwa, a resident of Ruhango District, had rented a house in Rusizi District, which he was using as store for smuggled goods, especially bales of used clothes and shoes.  Readmore...

RULINDO: The duo arrested over illegal mining, child labour

On Thursday, June 10, Rwanda National Police (RNP) in collaboration with other security organs and local leaders in Rulindo District, arrested two men for allegedly conducting illegal mining and using children in the hazardous activities.

Damascene Nsabimana alias Kibombo, 38, and Jean Twizeyimana, 33, were arrested separately in residents' fields in Gatwa and Mugambazi cells of Murambi Sector, where they were mining coltan.  Readmore...

Operations against skin bleaching cosmetics rages on

On Friday, June 11, Rwanda National Police (RNP) arrested three people in Muhima Sector, Nyarugenge District where they were selling banned skin whitening creams commonly known as Mukologo.

Those arrested are Wellars Dushimimana, 30, Assoumpta Byukusenge, 35, and Vincent Ukwizagira, 25. They were found in possession of combined 491 pieces of assorted lotions including Caro light, Miss White, Princess Clair, G.G and Hypprogel.  Readmore...
