Food and drug quality inspection course starts in Kacyiru

A five-day course on food and drug quality inspection started on Monday, July 18, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru bringing together 30 participants from different institutions.

Trainees include Police officers, investigators from RIB as well as those from Rwanda Food and Drug Authority (RFDA) and the Ministry of Health.  Read more...

Kent State University students visit Rwanda National Police


Students and lecturers from Kent State University in USA, on Friday, July 22, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) at the General Headquarters as part of their study tour.

The students are in Rwanda as part of their ?Rwanda post-genocide against the Tutsi? course offered by the Ohio-based university. Their visit to RNP was mainly to understand the force?s role in peace building and national development.  Read more...

30 trained in food and drug quality inspection

Thirty people drawn from different public institutions have completed a five-day course on food and drug quality inspection at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

The course facilated by experts from the Health Protection Department of the Italian Carabinieri, was officially closed on Friday, July 22, by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza.  Read more...

RUBAVU: Police intercept drug dealer with over 1000 pellets of cannabis


On Friday, July 15, at about 11pm, Rwanda National Police (RNP) apprehended a man in Ubucuruzi Village, Nengo Cell, Gisenyi Sector of Rubavu District, who was trafficking a bundle containing 1,036 pellets of cannabis.

The Western region Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Bonaventure Twizere Karekezi, identified the suspect as Innocent Hakizimana, 37, who was arrested due to a tip-off by residents.  Read more...

RUBAVU: Police impounds smuggled goods worth over Frw9 million


Two people were arrested in Rubavu District with assorted smuggled goods worth over Frw9 million.

The goods, including banned skin bleaching cosmetics, had been sneaked into Rwanda from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bonaventure Twizere Karekezi, the Police spokesperson for the Western region.  Read more...

RUBAVU: Two suspected drug dealers intercepted with 6,000 pellets of cannabis


Two people said to be part of the drug trafficking ring were arrested on Tuesday, July 19, at about 2pm, in Rubavu District with four bundles containing 6,000 pellets of cannabis.

Emmanuel Niyirora, 38, and Eric Ntagungira, 35, were intercepted in Shwemu Village, Gisa Cell in Rugerero Sector, transporting four bundles of cannabis on a motorcycle registration number RC 476A, which was also impounded.  Read more...
