DIGP Marizamunda inaugurates new regional police headquarters
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda on August 25, inaugurated the newly constructed Western Region Police Headquarters.
The Rwf 600 million worth spacious complex is located in Gisenyi sector in Rubavu district will accommodate the regional offices, the District Police Unit (DPU) of Rubavu and Gisenyi Police Station.
In his remarks DIGP Marizamunda noted that bringing all services together and closer to the people “remains Rwanda National Police (RNP)’s priority.”
The deputy police chief also pointed out that the new office premises will improve service delivery, save time and resources that the people incurred to acquire services from different centres and commended the efforts from RNP’s partnership with all state and non-state actors in the promotion of peace and maintaining security for both people and proper
He noted that RNP will remain committed to improving the skills and working environment of officer to better serve the population.
He asked police officers to remain professional and disciplined in order to have the trust and win the confidence of the public.
“You should not tolerate indiscipline or any act that may tarnish the image of RNP and that of the country,” he said.
Similar regional headquarters were constructed last in the Eastern and Southern Province.
The Eastern region police headquarters is a one-storey facility located in Rwamagana District was built at a tune of over Rwf577 million and it includes 36 rooms with two conference halls.
It accommodates the regional offices, the District Police Unit (DPU) of Rwamagana and Kigabiro Police Station.
The Southern region also got a state-of-the-art facility located Huye District worth Rwf680million that serves as the Southern Region Police Headquarters. It has 37 office rooms was constructed in a space of 12 months sits on a 6727 square metre piece of land.
