Police and about 530 local leaders and Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Nyamasheke District held a meeting on February 13 to deliberate on how better to partner in ensuring security in the area.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP), Adrien Rutagengwa urged them to make crime prevention a priority.
He said insecurity affects the development of the country. He appealed to them to fight crimes like drug abuse.
Silas Maniragaba, one of the participants commended Police for its continued efforts to ensure the security of people living in Rwanda through such joint initiatives.
“Such messages are very vital to us to know how better we can collectively fight and prevent crimes,” said Maniragaba.
“Security not an issue of Police alone, but a responsibility of all Rwandans by providing information of those involved in illegal activities, to ensure that peace and security are maintained,” he emphasized.
