Police Senior Command and Staff Course students in Qatar for external study tour

Thirty-four senior law enforcement officers from different African countries currently attending the Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC), on Sunday, April 28, started their external study tour in Qatar as part of the year-long academic programme offered at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District.

The Police students attending the ongoing 12th intake are from nine African countries, namely, Botswana, Somalia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Rwanda, the host.

The week-long tour is conducted under the theme: "Socio-economic development, good governance and justice as pillars of peace and security."

It is designed to expose the senior law enforcement officers to experimental learning on the nexus between socio-economic development, governance, justice, on one hand, and peace and security.

On the first day of the tour on Sunday, course participants visited Qatar Police Academy in Doha, where they were received by the President of the Academy, Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Majid al-Sulaiti.

They also toured various facilities of the academy, including the Incident Command Management training rooms, indoor shooting range and crime scene training rooms.

They will also visit other sites, including the Cyber Security Department, AI Rayan Security Department, the National Command Centre (NCC), Lekhwiya and the Qatar Museum.

The NPC Commandant, Commissioner of Police (CP) Rafiki Mujiji, said: "Internal and external study tours are part of the academic programme for senior law enforcement students to link theories learnt in class with field practical experience as strategic leaders."
