Rwanda starts vaccination of peacekeepers

Rwanda started vaccinating her peacekeepers serving in various UN missions in Africa.

The vaccination exercise started on Monday, March 15, with Rwandan Police, Military and Correctional contingents serving under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), who received their first shots.  Read more...

COVID-19: Vaccination of Rwandan peacekeepers gets underway in South Sudan

Rwanda, on Wednesday, March 17, started vaccinating Police, military and Correctional contingents serving under the UN missions in South Sudan (UNMISS) and Abyei (UNISFA).

The first day of the vaccination focused on Rwandan peacekeepers operating in the capital Juba and those serving under Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

Among those, who received their first shot of the vaccine on the first day are 356 Rwandan Police officers, who include 319 constituting Formed Police Unit (FPU) I and II deployed in Juba, 18 Individual Police Officers (IPOs) as well as 19 serving in UNISFA.  Read more...

COVID-19: Police calls for compliance with new prevention measures

The Cabinet meeting held on Monday, March 15, and chaired by President Paul Kagame reviewed the National directives on the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under the new nationwide directives, movements are prohibited between 9pm-4am, all businesses must close by 8pm; public offices will continue with essential staff with no more than 30% capacity while other employees continue working from home on rotational basis.  Read more...

KIGALI: Police parades 10 smugglers, pharmaceutical thieves

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Friday, March 19, paraded ten people to the media, who were arrested separately in operations targeting traffickers of plastic bags and skin bleaching products as well as a group involved in stealing pharmaceuticals and buyers.  Read more...

RUBAVU: Police warns taxi-moto operators against abetting crime

Taxi-moto operators in Rubavu District were cautioned against facilitating criminality.

The Western Region Police Commander (RPC), CSP Edmond Kalisa issued the warning in a meeting with commercial motorcyclists operating in Rubavu, held on Friday, March 19.

Police takes awareness against COVID-19 to communities on islands

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Marine unit launched an outreach programme targeting communities living in islands to educate them on measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as crime prevention.

The outreach exercise was launched on March 18, at Bugarura Island of Lake Kivu in Rutsiro District.

The awareness campaign is conducted jointly with local authorities and other community policing groups.  Read more...

RUSIZI: Police warns against smuggling

Communities residing on borderlines in Rusizi District were urged to report all acts of fraud including smuggling to fight tax evasion as well as substandard and illicit products that could find their way on the Rwandan market.

The call follows separate Rwanda National Police (RNP) operations in the district in which scores of smugglers and smuggled goods have been seized.  Read more...

On Monday, March 15, Rwanda National Police arrested four men in Nyarubaya Village, Mataba Cell of Kayenzi Sector in Kamonyi District, who were attempting to fleece a local resident of Frw500, 000 using fake dollar notes.  Read more...

GICUMBI: Police arrest 27 people over prohibited gathering

Police in Gicumbi District arrested 27 people on Sunday, March 14, after they were found congested in a house praying.

This was against the national COVID-19 prevention measures, which prohibits social gatherings including prayers in homes.

The violators were found gathered in the house of one Jacqueline Mushimiyimana, 39, located in Remera Cell of Manyagiro Sector.  Read more...
